Biography

Many elements have fused to propel J.P. to the pinnacle of prominence, which she has now attained.  Beyond all else, she credits the spiritual environment of her youth and adulthood as the propelling force in her life.  J. P. is a Memphian by birth but she claims the world as her vineyard.

Growing up in Memphis, attending its public schools, J. P.'s thirst for knowledge beyond high school was sated by attending the University of Memphis where she earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees, with concentration in Psychology.  While "wearing one hat on top of the other" as wife, performer, student, entrepreneur, and counselor, J. P. never neglected her primary role as mother to her three children who have now reached adulthood.

Very early in life J. P. committed her life to Christ, which placed her on a journey akin to that of Mother Teresa (one of her idols).  She has used her God-bestowed gifts as a musician in coordinating and conducting gospel music workshops and lectures throughout the United States, as well as international venues.

J. P. firmly believes that God uses people who are willing to not only listen to the "still, small voice", but to follow its lead.  On her mission, she has used her resources to lift the down-and-out, to inspire those with low esteem, cheer the depressed, lonely and sad, and bring hope to the downcast.  This action-oriented servant, however has been most successful in using the instrument of her voice to bring together a fragmented world in perfect harmony as God wills.

A woman of virtue and high moral principles, J. P. considers her music ministry as God's fulfillment of a broader mission to increase her effectiveness in His vineyard.  With no reservation, she shares her gifts with other aspiring vocalists via coaching and teaching vocal breathing techniques and control, as well as personal expression.  As an adjunct, she also teaches music appreciation, easy-listening jazz standards and pop songs.

Among the varied activities in the sphere of music, J. P. has conducted Gospel workshops at LeMoyne-Owen College, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Philadelphia Baptist Church, Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., Hamilton High School Glee Club, Nashville Tennessee Performing Arts Group, Harlem Jazz Organization of New York, New York Teen Gospel Workshop, Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin, St. Patrick Catholic Church, University of Memphis Gospel Group, and Tennessee State Jazz & Gospel Choir of Nashville.
